We believe that not all messages out there are worth our attention. Useless junk fill media, news and social platforms. These add no real value to us. Fake news, negativity and hate messages. They’re not something that people need. We need to be unearthing stories that are more valuable.
And yet, in the same breath, bad messages go viral every day.
We started Pluggas a while back with the intent of adding value to people. What started as a one-time project that brought in favourable results is now our livelihood and mission. We tell stories because we want to make a difference in the world. And spreading messages that can inspire and build up is our number one priority.
Stories like people battling increasing suicide rates among youth. Messages like that of local farmers on how supporting local benefits everyone. These are stories that we love to tell and that we know the world needs to hear. And the best way we do that is through films.
Our Next Step: Unearthed Stories
And in our attempts to bring that mission to tell stories that matter, we’re starting a series we’re calling “Unearthed Stories.” This is a series that will look into the seemingly ordinary and unearth the extraordinary in the lives of individuals and groups. We seek to unearth hidden stories and bring them to light.
There’s more to show than what the human eye can see and more to tell than what others have to say. Values, origins, conflicts and motivations of unsung heroes with amazing tales. Last week, we launched our first story- the story of a man, a guitar-maker, who fought for his passion and for his family. It’s stories like these that we want on social media, in conversations, and in any medium possibly reachable.
Why We’re Doing This
At the end of the day, our goal is people. We believe stories are powerful because they help people. They help us remember what we must remember and focus on things we need to focus on. We want positive and good ideas to reach audiences. And as Robert Mckee once said, “Storytelling is the most powerful to put ideas into the world today.”
We’d like to invite you on this journey of unearthing stories. We want to take to make messages that really make a difference in the world and are worth our time to be heard. Stories of men and women who have a goal and a desire to end a conflict that eats them up. Stories of victory over seemingly impossible situations that were overcome in the end.
I hope you stick around to see where these stories will end up and to help us invite others to hear these stories. We’d love to have you along in the ride!
