“Every single day, do one little thing to making your dreams a reality.” We first heard those words from Matt Grills, a business owner and marathoner from Bargara. He shared that nugget of wisdom in what was our first ever story. Looking back, the story of Matt Grills and The Journey Bargara was key to helping us build Pluggas to what it is now.
In a few days, we’re going to say goodbye to 2018 and welcome yet another new year. Another fresh set of opportunities. Another story to tell. And Matt’s words are just ever fitting for us at this juncture of the year. So what brought about these words? To understand, it would be great for you to know more about Matt’s story.
A Story of Passion and Hustle
We all have passions that we love dearly. For Matt, there were two distinct passions that stood out- running and coffee. He started working at coffeeshops where he came to grow his craft as a barista. But all the while, Matt’s dream was to have a place of his own.

In 2016, Matt started actively seeking out a location for what would be his own shop. After a year of searching, he found a corner in not-too-busy Bargara. He would later open the doors of “The Journey.”
Beyond coffee, Matt is all about the interactions he has with people who walk in his shop. And people love being at The Journey as well. His Facebook page currently has 109 reviews that are all five stars. That’s something you don’t get to see everyday, but it speaks about the experience Matt brings.
A Story Gone Viral
And it’s that love people have for Matt’s place that helped us propel our story. We ran it as part of our Business Insights series, a small documentary sequence featuring businesses that we loved and wanted to feature.

To date, people have viewed the film we made featuring Matt over 12,000 times, shared it over 100 times and reacted on it 200 times. That’s easily one of the best performing stories we’ve ever had. Until now, I can reference to the project and clients in Bundaberg will remember having seen the film at some point.
A Lesson We Can Learn
The success of the shop plays a big factor in the success of the film. But I believe it also has to do with the lesson that we have to learn from Matt Grills. And it’s a lesson that ties well with the new year. The daily hustle is what brings us to our dreams. We need to work hard and love the things we do if we want to achieve our goals in life.
That story has stuck with us at Pluggas and we plan to bring it further in 2019. We hope you all have an amazing 2019 yourself and that we find more and more reasons to do one thing everyday to make our dreams a reality!
