Tapping into the effectiveness of social media takes one thing- mastering the desire to share. Shareability works on the principle of an old marketing tactic called word of mouth. I’m sure you’ve heard about it. There’s no strategy better than going viral because people talk about you.

It’s no different on social. If you want to market well on social platforms, get people to talk about you. Making shareable content on social media will almost always bring engagement and thus business results.

But what’s the key to making social media content that’s shareable? We’ve noticed some unmistakable similarities in some of our most shareable content on social media. I’d like to share some of those similarities with you today and teach you how you can apply them. Here are four ways to make your content more shareable on social media.

Tell Your Story

shareable

One strong characteristic of highly shareable content is a compelling and clear story. Everyone has a story worth telling but not everyone tells it well. Do you tell your story in a clear and compelling manner?

You can tell a clear and compelling story by using various media to develop that story- photos, text, blogs and- most importantly- video. Develop your story, build materials and channels that will tell your story and people will listen.

Use Great Visuals

Humans are by nature visual beings. We are attracted to colors, shapes and all kinds of aesthetics. That’s why art gets to us. There’s a thin line between creatives and business. Both need each other. Do you have the creativity to make great visuals or can you bring someone on board to do nice graphics, videos or written content for you?

Give a Clear Call To Action

It goes without saying that people will often not do something unless you ask them to. There’s a story of a charity director who had a wealthy friend who was dying. He visited that friend thinking that he would donate some of his finances to his charity. When he visited his dying friend in the hospital, the charity director was shocked to find out that the wealthy man had donated all his money to another charity.

When the charity director asked why he didn’t give it to his charity instead, the dying man simply answered, “because you never asked.” Is your call to action clear on your social media accounts? Ask people to share your content especially when you know it’s worth talking about.
