The magicians behind Facebook are at it again. The tech giant is always on the move to do something new. Now, they’ve introduced something that is a great opportunity for businesses- Facebook cover videos.
Facebook is a great consumer tool, but an even greater business tool. If you’re a business that’s not using Facebook then you’re missing out on a whole lot. One of the great things about Facebook is the ability to publish content at little to no cost.
One of the newest ways you can do that is by putting a video on the cover area of your page. As simple as the update may seem, it gives us endless possibilities to get creative. We can now show more of your story to the world in a fresh and accessible way.
So how do I get it set up?
Getting a Facebook cover video is easy and won’t take you a whole lot of time to set up. Making the video- of course- is still the biggest challenge. But as always, that’s what we’re here for. If you need help getting a video together to put on your Facebook pages’ cover area let us know. Reach out to us and we’ll be more than happy to help you do that.
So as for the things to take note of when making videos, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Video dimensions are to be set at 820 x 312 pixels.
- Video length is set anywhere between 20-90 seconds.
- Audio is off by default so it’s a good idea to keep that in mind when planning the delivery of content. Voice overs thus are not a very good idea.
- Remember to keep it short, sweet and simple. No need to say a whole lot.
- The cover photo looks great with both motion graphics and actual captured videos.
There are many ways to maximize the use of a Facebook cover video. You can put up some footage of your products, create an infographic, show a portfolio of your services and so on. You can even use fun videos like a boomerang shot or a blooper reel. The sky is the limit when it comes to using video on covers.
Some examples of Facebook cover videos to check out
Pluggas
Of course, we’d like to show you what we’ve made for ourselves. We’re a video production company offering consultancy and video services to clients. Thus we want to show people some of our best shots. We do that with our Facebook cover video. There’s very little need for text on our part except for some information that we placed at the bottom of the video.
Wide Reach Social Media
Here’s one we did for Wide Reach Social Media’s new campaign. A very simple looped video showing the message “Make the switch to social” and a quick flash of the website, gets the job done. (They’ve been waiting to start their new campaign to have it put up, so you can have a quick peak.)
Netflix
Netflix puts out great shows on a regular basis. But with all the releases, it’s hard to keep up. That’s why it’s important for them to always put up promotional materials lining up those films coming soonest. That’s what they do with their Facebook cover video- using it as sort of a “catalog” of their upcoming shows.
